LEADER IN ME
BCS is a certified Leader in Me school, teaching the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to students and families so that children can be leaders of their own learning. In 2018, BCS revamped their resource program to include early identification and intervention so that potential learning obstacles are addressed and strategies are in place so that students can be even more successful in their academics. BCS is committed to being a “community of belonging” and emphasizes professional development for all staff so that they remain current with curriculum and best practices and are better equipped to meet the diverse needs of today’s students.

TEACHING FOR TRANSFORMATION
All of our campuses are certified Teaching for Transformation (TfT) school. TfT is a very intentional multi-disciplinary philosophy and framework that rose out of a deep hope that all Christian Schools could be places where everyone would discover their place as participants in God’s epic story. An important aspect of TfT is the “FLeX” project. Students are challenged to respond with their knowledge in Project-Based Learning endeavours that focus on practical application and service in the broader community.

HOSPITALITY

The purpose of the Parent Volunteer Association (PVA) is to foster a positive environment for closer relationships amongst the QRCS stakeholders: Parents and/or guardians, teachers, administration, grandparents, churches, and our local community.

Success at our school is often the result of close communication and teamwork between the parent and the teacher. Teachers often need the support of parents in order to chaperone field trips, assist with special projects, and other items as required. One or both parents from each family is expected to volunteer in some way during the school year at school or at one of our Thrift Stores.

Parents are an important part of our school community. All parents are expected to support the fundraising activities, which includes helping to spread the word about fundraising activities.  Background checks must be conducted for parent volunteers working directly with students (ie. field trips or in-class support.).

Some examples of ways to get involved with the PVA include our Fall Banquet, volunteering in the school library, helping with hot lunches, driving for school trips, coaching co-curricular sports/activities, supporting the Annual Drive and golf tournaments, and assisting with the planning and execution of social events (like school bbqs).
